Davies looking forward to new challenge
Rovelli confirmed recently that Davies would stick with the team and that they would now compete on Ducatis, in a one-man squad in what will be a rookie WSBK year for almost all involved in the project.
"The plan is to move into Superbike with Chaz," said Rovelli, "and we will have new 1198 machines. We have ordered them directly from Ducati, so they will be brand new. The team that I have already confirmed is Lucio Nicastro, my right hand/team manager and the technical director of the team will be Alberto ‘Moro' Colombo (the latter being an integral part of many previous World championship winning WSBK Ducati efforts: Ed). We will have an engineer and an electronics engineer from Ducati Corse. We will use Öhlins suspension and we are now planning our winter test schedule."
Said Davies, "I rode a Ducati 800 before but it is going to be a million miles away from what this is. Only the brand will be the same. I rode a twin once before for a season in AMA, just not a Ducati. To start in Superbike with all the personnel, like Moro and Lucio and two guys from Ducati - you cannot really ask for a better start."
